Creeping burhead is a native aquatic plant in Florida. It is occasionally found in the marshes, swamps and ponds of northern and peninsula Florida (Wunderlin, 2003). It blooms in the summer.
Echinodorus cordifolius occurs in the southeastern states, to Virginia, Illinois and Texas (Kartesz, 1999).
