Lake hygrophila is a native plant that can occasionally be found in the swamps and wet hammocks of the northern and central peninsula and the central and western panhandle of Florida. There are four species of Hygrophila in Florida (Wunderlin, 2003). In addition to FL, Lake hygrophila also occurs in PR (Kartesz, 1999).
